‘Devastating’: Police department mourns death of officer in off-duty crash — Alpharetta Community news

AUTAUGA COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA/Gray News) - A police officer in Alabama has died in an off-duty crash this week. According to the Prattville Police Department, Cpl. Dakota Lee Davis did not survive the injuries he sustained in a crash on Highway 31 on Monday afternoon. “The loss of CPL. Davis is devastating not only to the Prattville Police Department but to the city of Prattville. He will be missed by all,” Prattville Police Chief Mark Thompson said.Prattville Fire Chief Josh Bingham also remembers Davis as a hard worker and great officer. Bingham said those who want to honor Davis should do something nice for someone else.Law enforcement held a procession Tuesday morning as Davis’ body was transported from Montgomery to Millbrook.“We ask that you keep his wife, his family, and the PPD in your thoughts and prayers. We also ask for prayers for the first responders at the scene of the accident and the family of the vehicle involved,” Thompson continued. The crash remains under investigation
